Make sure to keep your radio close at hand whatever your plans. Dinner Party is on the air with an assortment of music to cool you off after a hot day in Chicago. It takes more to make a meal than a few heaping platters of food. Theres the good conversation that accompanies any social event. The memories of days gone by that come to mind. And the pleasure of new memories created in the moment together.
Join me for my next edition of Dinner Party, and you and I will enjoy our Saturday evening in the company of Steely Dan, The Crusaders, Sergio Mendes, and Ramsey Lewis. Although there are no plates of food to be passed or bottles of wine to be poured when Im on the air, I like to think our four hours together bears all the other hallmarks of a good gathering with friends.

Here it comes! The weekend for parades and fireworks and cookouts in the back yard! Fortunately, the next edition of Dinner Party will do everything to help you get through this holiday weekend but flip the burgers on the grill and spray on the mosquito repellent. Keep your radio nearby Saturday night, and Ill treat you to summer songs to celebrate the season, steel drums and bossa nova rhythms to take you on a virtual vacation, and good times in the company of Gato Barbieri, Herb Alpert, Al Jarreau, and Steely Dan. Guess whos coming to dinner! Josie. And Julia. And Linus and Lucy. And Eleanor Rigby. And some tough guy named Mack the Knife. And the Bellavia side of the family, too. But dont worry. Theres always plenty room for more at our musical feast. Plan to put the humdrum of the workweek behind you and spend some time with Music That Cooks. All you need is a radio and a good appetite. Is it hot in here...or is it Peggy Lee? It’s hard to say. Dinner Party is back on the air Saturday night celebrating the official arrival of summer with a number of songs designed to heat things up. Of course, we’ll be keeping our cool, too, when Larry Carlton serves up a little something from south of the border, Gato Barbieri invites us to a fiesta, and Al Jarreau sings the music of the Dave Brubeck Quartet...twice.
