Long holiday weekend and with summer winding down and Brazilian Independence Day approaching on September 7th, our new monthly theme 'Made In Brazil' is right on track!
This week, we’ll feature pop singer Marisa Monte on the radio and webcasts for The Sounds of Brazil! The past few years have been momentous ones for this Brazilian Diva: Two critically-acclaimed CDs, three Latin Grammy nominations with a stunning win for 'Best Samba Album'. Marisa Monte's cool demeanor is unique - one early gig was with the cast of the 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' - but she's also studied 'serious' music in Italy before turning to her pop career. We'll enjoy songs - in English and Portuguese - from several of her CDs this week.
